Garnier BB Cream Review.

Okay, so everyone is raving about this new miracle cream so when I got some free samples I couldn’t wait to try them out and see what all the fuss is about.

Image

One word: Much a do about nothing. Sorry… five words.

They sent me samples in “light” shade. I would say I was an olive/medium skin tone so I was expecting it to make me look like a corpse – but far from it. I WAS ORANGE.

I hate the fake tangerine look and my neck was 10 shades lighter than my face.

SPEC:

Texture: Just like a liquid foundation.

Feel on skin: Heavy and cakey.

Coverage: What coverage? It’s more like a primer.

Price: £7.50-£7.99. Pretty pricey for what it is.

Bad points: Too many to list.

Good points: I use it quite a lot now for one reason only. I apply a thin layer as a face primer.

To buy or not to buy: I wouldn’t buy it for over £7 because it isn’t worth it. I would only pay for it as a primer for around £4.

Tips for flawless skin :D

Ok so I get spots. Not loads of spots, but a fair amount. There’s a few tips and tricks to keep your skin almost perfect though so i’m going to share them with you 🙂

1) Drink plenty of water. I know everyone says it and you prefer diet coke or squash or whatever you drink and water just tastes so bland but seriously, 8 cups a day is easily do able. All you have to do is just wake up, have a coffee and down a glass of water. Have a glass of water before you go to the loo. Have a glass of water on your break. Just down it and get it over a done with. The water will keep your skin hydrated and wash the nasty bacteria away.

2) Cleanse, tone and moisturise. Again, another thing you think is much a do about nothing, but again – easily do able. Before you put on your make-up use a make-up wipe to cleanse. Apply a toner or rose water and then rub soe  moisturiser in your hands and slap the stuff on. Simple! If you have no time in the morning. Do it before you go to bed. The results will show very soon!

3) Invest in something for your skin type. I have dry skin so I bought some bio-oil and I apply it twice a week before I moisturise to where my dry areas are – e.g. my forehead and nose. ONLY USE OIL IF YOUR SKIN IS SO DRY YOU FLAKE SKIN LIKE BARK OFF A TREE. If you’re spotty use a zit zapper. Check out http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk (or if you’re in the USA – http://www.eyeslipsface.com) and they have a wonderful zit zapper for £1.50. Most of there stuff is £1.50 actually…

4) If you really can’t be bothered to CTM, at least apply a mosturiser before you put on your make-up . It really is simple and makes your make-up look a hell of a lot better.

5) Keep your skin make-up free for at least one day a week. I know for some make-up is like clothes, you feel naked without it. But come on, you can’t go out of the house everyday. Dedicate a day to stay home and lounge around naked-faced. If you really want to treat yourself to some skin loving – make it a pamper day – cleanse & exfoliate, slap on a face mask, get someone to massage your face (offer them money and then give them and I.O.U that you “completely forget about”), etc.

6) Invest in some skin-friendly make-up. Easy things like SPF 15 products or cosmetics with witch hazel.

Follow these steps and you’ll love me for it, I promise!

My next blog will be a review of some sort of make-up: I haven’t decided what yet – it’s a mystery! So don’t miss it – and tell your friends and family… and random people on the street. What the hell, give a hobo some money for an internet cafe and tell him to check this out.

Invest in some high-priced cosmetics!

I’m always reluctant to splash out on expensive make-up. Some of the time the higher-priced cosmetics are the worst. I remember a YSL mascara I bought a couple of years back and within a month is was dried up and made my lashes super clumpy – bad investment. However, Benefit Cosmetics are usually fantastic! You can buy them in most department shops and in Boots, I even bought a little make-up compact on an aeroplane! Along with some Benefit cosmetics i’ve tried out along with some other good pricey cosmetics:

Benefit Tattletell All!:£29.50.

A fantastic travel-size touch-up kit! It contains minature touch-ups of benetint (a lip and cheek stain), high beam (a baby pink highlighter), lipgloss (in a lovely deep rose/beige colour), two lipsticks (in ‘no competition’ – a deep maroon colour and ‘lady’s choice’ – a nude rose colour) along with two small eyeshadows in ‘leggy’ and ‘brandy dandy’ – a nude pink shade and deep brown shade and finally a silky-smooth bronzer called ‘Dallas’. Overall, quite pricey but with what you get in such a small box – you can’t complain!

Benefit BADgal lash mascara: £16.50.

Again, quite pricey for a mascara, but my favourite lash extender by far! Long, and voluminous in one coat – it’s amazing!

YSL Touche Eclat: £25.00.

Expensive but so worth it! I know I said YSL’s mascara was awful but the highlighting/correcting pen it’s sooo different! It covers blemishes perfectly and highlights fabulously! Definitely worth the price-tag!

These cosmetics are avaiable in most large Boots stores so pop down there and have a browse!

T&C: No chain mail or junk…

Valentine’s Day – I’m secretly male.

I’m the man in my relationship. My Boyfriend said, “we’re not getting eachother anything on valentine’s day because we’re broke”, so I didn’t get him anything. No chocolate, card – nothing. So on Valentine’s day, I open the door and he tells me to wait downstairs, which I am very confused about but I stay there anyway why he runs upstairs looking very excited like a young schoolboy who found out there’s a new toy waiting upstairs for him. Five minutes later he appears at the top of the stairs and says, “you can come upstairs now!” I walk up the stairs feeling scared like he’s set loose a wild tiger in our room and before I open the door he put his hands over my eyes. As soon as I step foot inside he takes his hands off and the whole room is covered in red and pink tea candles and about five presents on the bed. A dozen roses, a little stuffed toy monkey with “I love you lots” written on what looks like a collar, a photo frame with two pictures of us, a personalized chocolate bar and a very large red envelope. I look over to the side and notice he bought lots of food and a very nicely decorated cake. I’m pretty much gobsmacked and look straight at him which is when he grabs me in a massive hug. “This is nice”, is all I manage to say. “Where’s mine?” is his reply. I look at him like he just asked me to spell cat. “What you didn’t even get me a card?” I feel like the man in a typical Valentine’s Day story where the girl says they’re not going to do anything but  cry their eyes out when the boyfriend is empty-handed. I’m crying alright but only because now I feel horrible. The night ends with dinner cooked by me and my boyfriend playing on Battlefield 3 until midnight. The cake was lovely by the way.
